John 11:25
King James Version
25 Jesus said unto her,
I am the resurrection,
and the life:
he that believeth in me,
though he were dead,
yet shall he live:
This is probably the most important significance of the number 3, for JESUS was resurrected on the THIRD day.
Something the LORD prophesied Himself:
Mark 9:30-32
King James Version
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee;
and he would not that any man should know it.
31 For he taught his disciples,
and said unto them,
The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men,
and they shall kill him;
and after that he is killed,
he shall rise the third day.
32 But they understood not that saying,
and were afraid to ask him.
As we all know, JESUS was crucified.
He died, and was buried, just as He said.
Just to make sure the Resurrection wouldn't take place, Pontius Pilate took measures:
Matthew 27:64
King James Version
64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure
until the third day,
lest his disciples come by night,
and steal him away,
and say unto the people,
He is risen from the dead:
so the last error shall be worse than the first.
But who can deny the LORD His prophecy?
It happened EXACTLY as He said it would.
JESUS rose on the THIRD day.
Matthew 28:1-7
King James Version
28 In the end of the sabbath,
as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week,
came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold,
there was a great earthquake:
for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven,
and came and rolled back the stone from the door,
and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning,
and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake,
and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women,
Fear not ye:
for I know that ye seek Jesus,
which was crucified.
6 He is not here:
for he is risen,
as he said.
Come,
see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly,
and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead;
and, behold,
he goeth before you into Galilee;
there shall ye see him:
lo, I have told you.
This became the gospel of the LORD.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
King James Version
15 Moreover, brethren,
I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received,
and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved,
if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:
