GOD's 10 Commandments

1 John 5:3

King James Version

3 For this is the love of God,

that we keep his commandments:

and his commandments are not grievous.

Most of us have been taught GOD's 10 Commandments.

It's time to take these to heart now, in view of the state of the world.

We don't need anything fancy.

Here's the whole set of verses:

Exodus 20:1-17

King James Version

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God,

which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,

out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,

or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,

or that is in the earth beneath,

or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,

nor serve them:

for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God,

visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children

unto the third and fourth generation

of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy

unto thousands of them that love me,

and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God

in vain;

for the Lord will not hold him guiltless

that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God:

in it thou shalt not do any work,

thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,

thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,

nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days

the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea,

and all that in them is,

and rested the seventh day:

wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day,

and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother:

that thy days may be long upon the land

which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house,

thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife,

nor his manservant, nor his maidservant,

nor his ox, nor his ass,

nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The number 42

Psalm 90:11

King James Version

11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger?

even according to thy fear,

so is thy wrath.

What's three-and-a-half years?

That's a total of 42 months.

Also, 1,290 days.

What has Bible prophecy got to do with it?

Surely, it's of great significance.

These intriguing verses came up.

Daniel 7:25

King James Version

25 And he shall speak great words against the most High,

and shall wear out the saints of the most High,

and think to change times and laws:

and they shall be given into his hand

until a time and times

and the dividing of time*.

Daniel 12:7

King James Version

7 And I heard the man clothed in linen,

which was upon the waters of the river,

when he held up his right hand and his left hand

unto heaven,

and sware by him that liveth for ever

that it shall be for a time, times, and an half;

and when he shall have accomplished

to scatter the power of the holy people,

all these things shall be finished.

Daniel 12:11

King James Version

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice

shall be taken away,

and the abomination that maketh desolate set up,

there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Luke 4:25

King James Version

25 But I tell you of a truth,

many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias,

when the heaven was shut up three years and six months,

when great famine was throughout all the land;

James 5:17

King James Version

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are,

and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain:

and it rained not on the earth

by the space of three years and six months.

Revelation 11:2

King James Version

2 But the court which is without the temple

leave out, and measure it not;

for it is given unto the Gentiles:

and the holy city shall they tread under foot

forty and two months.

Revelation 11:3

King James Version

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses,

 and they shall prophesy

a thousand two hundred and threescore days,

clothed in sackcloth.

Revelation 12:14

King James Version

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle,

that she might fly into the wilderness,

into her place, where she is nourished

for a time, and times, and half a time,

from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 13:5

King James Version

5 And there was given unto him a mouth

speaking great things and blasphemies;

and power was given unto him

to continue forty and two months.

The chapters from these verses deserve deeper study.

As they say, "we've barely scratched the surface".

Scripture has really much to say about GOD's love, power, and wrath.

All have been prophesied.

We all need to look into it.

In addition, Ed. F. Vallowe's "Keys to Scripture Numerics" declares the number 42 as "ISRAEL's OPPRESSION" and the "LORD'S ADVENT".

The "advent" would be CHRIST's second coming.

*NOTE: "a time and times and the dividing of time" means:

Daniel 7:25

International Children’s Bible

25 This king will say things against the Most High God.

And he will hurt and kill God’s people.

He will try to change times and laws

that have already been set.

The people that belong to God

will be in that king’s power

for three and one-half years.
